A Smoked Manhattan is a sophisticated and aromatic twist on the classic Manhattan cocktail, celebrated for its depth of flavor and dramatic presentation. This elegant drink starts with the traditional Manhattan ingredients: rye whiskey or bourbon for a robust base, sweet vermouth to add complexity, and a dash of bitters for balance. The defining characteristic of the Smoked Manhattan, however, is the addition of a smoky element, typically achieved by infusing the cocktail with smoke from a Ghost Smoker.
As the smoke swirls into the glass, it imparts a subtle yet distinct smoky flavor that complements the natural spiciness of the rye or the smooth sweetness of the bourbon. The process of smoking the drink not only adds a layer of flavor but also creates a captivating visual effect, making it a showstopper at bars and a talking point at gatherings.
To finish, the cocktail is often garnished with a brandied cherry or a twist of orange peel, adding a hint of fruitiness and an additional layer of aroma. The Smoked Manhattan is typically served in a classic cocktail glass, allowing the colors and smoke to be fully appreciated. This drink is a favorite among connoisseurs and casual drinkers alike, offering a unique sensory experience that elevates the traditional Manhattan to new heights of flavor and sophistication.
We used Michters Rye Whiskey, Carpano Antica Vermouth, and a blend of Fee Brothers West Indian Orange Bitters and traditional Angostura bitters, and garnish with Filthy brand cherries.
